Enrichment

At Discovery Corner we instruct, stimulate and support our students through a variety of enrichment offerings. 

Among our offerings are American sign language and Spanish language courses, dance, karate, gymnastics and music courses on the premises. Starting with our new Kindergarten program we also offer computer and math classes. Through our well-integrated approach all children at discovery corner have the opportunity to realize their full potential.

 

Sample curriculum

Phonics
Phonics lessons set your child up for advanced success with literacy through phonics, the study of letters and sounds. Reader books, games, and activity cards help your child understand the basics of vowels and blending syllables, giving him confidence and command of language.

 

Spanish
Spanish lessons provide your child with a foundation for later success with the Spanish language. Music, games, children’s Spanish literature, and other tools give children multiple opportunities to hear, practice, and see Spanish language for vocabulary and conversational development. Curriculum includes lessons on greetings, numbers, colors, animals, family, body parts and pets as well as how to get engage conversationally during common scenarios at home, a restaurant, or at the zoo.

 

Reading
Reading lessons enrich your child’s learning about language by introducing her or him to vowels, common words, and creative writing. Posters, books, and activity cards help him improve his literacy skills while having fun with the turn of every new page.

 

Math
Math is everywhere and giving your child every advantage now will add up to success later in life. Your child will learn about length, height, and weight, shapes and solids. She or he will learn how to add, subtract, multiply, and count money. 

 

Active
Designed for children ages four and older, our active programs develop children’s movement capabilities, build interaction and teamwork skills, and help children understand what it means to be healthy and fit. From yoga to dance and gymnastics, your child will be active, get fit, and have fun.

 

Science 
Adventures Science Adventures is an exciting hands-on science enrichment program that introduces children to the wonders of science in a fun and highly imaginative environment. Your child will have fun learning about the science of wind and water and everything else under the sun.
